About Yuli

Meet Yuli, your Chinese teacher.

I help Chinese learners from around the world improve their Mandarin, prepare for HSK exams, and use Chinese more confidently in real-life and workplace communication.

I am a native Chinese teacher from China, now based in France. My teaching journey began in 2011, when I helped Japanese students learn Chinese while studying in Japan. In 2018, I started teaching Chinese online professionally.

My Teaching Background

My Chinese teaching journey began in 2011, when I helped Japanese students learn Chinese while I was studying in Japan. That experience showed me how important clear explanations, patient correction, and cultural understanding are for language learning.

In 2018, I began teaching Chinese online professionally. Since then, I have taught more than 5,000 lesson hours on italki, as well as additional lessons on other platforms and in offline settings.

Over the years, I have worked with more than 500 students from around the world, including complete beginners, intermediate learners, advanced speakers, HSK students, heritage learners, travelers, and professionals who need Chinese for work or daily communication.

My Professional Background

Before becoming a full-time online Chinese teacher, I worked in American, French, Japanese, and Chinese companies. These experiences helped me understand different workplace cultures, communication styles, and the challenges people face when using a foreign language in real situations.

Because of this background, my lessons are not only about vocabulary and grammar. I also help students learn practical Chinese for daily life, work, cross-cultural communication, and real conversations with Chinese speakers.

My Language Learning Background

I am also a language learner myself. I have studied several languages, and I know what it feels like to start from zero, feel stuck, forget words, and need a clear learning path.

This experience helps me explain Chinese from a learner’s perspective, not only from a native speaker’s perspective. I care about accuracy, but I also care about whether students can actually use Chinese in real conversations.

What My Lessons Are Like

Structured and clear

  • Step-by-step lessons for beginners, intermediate learners, and HSK students.
  • Clear grammar explanations with practical examples.
  • Regular review so new words and sentence patterns become usable.
  • Support for HSK preparation, reading, listening, speaking, and vocabulary building.

Practical and personal

  • Real-life and workplace Chinese for conversation, travel, work, and daily communication.
  • Pronunciation and sentence correction during speaking practice.
  • Materials adjusted to your level, goals, and learning rhythm.
  • Cross-cultural communication support based on my work experience in American, French, Japanese, and Chinese companies.

My goal is not only to help you learn more Chinese, but to help you use Chinese with more confidence in real life, study, work, and cross-cultural communication.

Why I Created This Website

I created this website because many Chinese learners want to study seriously, but they are busy with work, family, school, and daily life.

Some students cannot take private lessons every day. Some feel lost when choosing materials by themselves. Some want to review grammar, vocabulary, reading, and speaking topics in one clear place.

Because I am now based in France, my teaching schedule cannot always match learners in every time zone. I cannot give live lessons to students in every region as often as I would like. But I still want learners from different countries to have access to clear, structured Chinese learning materials, even when we cannot meet for regular one-on-one lessons.

As a Chinese teacher, I often tell my students: even a little Chinese every day can make a difference. But I also know that staying consistent is much easier when the learning materials are organized, practical, and easy to return to.

That is why I built Daily Chinese with Yuli: not just as a collection of materials, but as a self-study system for learners who want to keep improving Chinese between lessons, after lessons, or even without frequent live lessons.

A Personal Note from Yuli

This website was not created by a big company or a large IT team. It was built by me, little by little, during my teaching schedule.

Every part of it comes from my real lessons, real student questions, and years of experience helping learners understand and use Chinese.

Your membership fee is less than the price of one private lesson per month, but it gives you access to a growing library of structured Chinese learning materials. It also helps support the maintenance of this website and the creation of new lessons over time.
